Meet Shelby

Shelby Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that meaningful change begins with understanding. His approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, creating a space where clients feel accepted while also being challenged to grow. Rather than simply talking about problems, Shelby works alongside his clients to help them recognize patterns, build healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships, and discover that lasting change is possible.
While Shelby enjoys working with adults from all walks of life, he has a particular passion for helping teenage boys and young men navigate life's major transitions. Whether it's graduating high school, starting a first job, entering a serious relationship, getting married, moving away from home, or simply figuring out who they want to become, Shelby understands that even positive changes can feel overwhelming. His goal is to help clients develop the confidence and tools they need to move into the next season of life with clarity and hope.
Shelby is trained in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, allowing him to tailor treatment to each individual's needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. His clinical work incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Therapy, and he is also EMDR Certified, providing specialized treatment for clients working through trauma and distressing life experiences.
He is committed to making quality mental health care accessible and is insurance-friendly, accepting many major insurance plans through his practice.
Shelby earned his graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Harding University in 2018 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) and National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Whether you're seeking therapy for the first time or returning after time away, Shelby believes meaningful change is possible. His hope is that every client leaves therapy not only feeling heard, but believing they have the ability to build a healthier, more fulfilling life, and that they are moving in the right direction.
